It's a longarm quilting workbook with some tips on basic skills, techniques and motifs/designs to help get you started with your longarm quilting. It is also a great book for those of you that already longarm quilt as I have some fun ideas on how to quilt something, to motifs/designs, a couple projects and lots of eye candy included!

My book is scheduled to release on October 4, 2017 and will be spiral bound for $30.95. If you would like to purchase a copy of my book you can find it in my shop. I'll be autographing each book and sending it out as soon as it arrives.

Thank you to everyone for all of your support. I'm anxious for you to see my new book!

Happy Quilting!

<![CDATA[New York Beauties & Flying Geese by Carl Hentsch]]>Thu, 04 May 2017 13:00:00 GMThttp://quiltingismybliss.com/blog/new-york-beauties-flying-geese-by-carl-hentsch

Hello there! Welcome to my new website. I'm so excited to kick this off with Carl's new book on this blog tour. If you haven't heard about Carl you need to check out his Instagram and Facebook 3DogDesign. He is a very talented book/pattern designer. His talent for choosing color palettes for his quilts is outstanding. And his piecing skills are to die for. Perfect piecing! A longarm quilter's dream come true!

I have been in awe of his talent for about 2 years now, so when Carl contacted me a couple years ago and asked if I would like to quilt a couple of his quilts for his new book I was, of course, thrilled to be able to be a part of this project. Carl sent me these gorgeous quilts and told me to do what ever I wanted. Here are a couple of pictures I took of these wonderful quilts before I sent them home.

This first one is called Pandemonium - Jewels of the Amazon. Look at these colors he put together..they are Kaffe Fassett shot cottons paired with a large floral print.
This quilt is called Twin Dragons - The Legend of Yin and Yang. What a great quilt this would make for a guy. I know we all struggle with choosing a good guy quilt. This one is definitely it!
And this quilt is called Sorbet - 32 flavors. Can you say Yummy! Again his fabric choices are just spot on.
I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Carl's book and was able to try one of these patterns out. I have to say, when I first started quilting for him I was thinking there is no way I could piece something this gorgeous and probably wouldn't attempt it. After reading his book, I thought I would make up a project to share on this blog post. It was so easy to make. The arcs are all done using foundation paper piecing and went together so beautifully! I decided to make Rust after I fell in love with the quilt he did for Tula Pink's booth made out of Tabby Road. I chose Slow and Steady by Tula Pink as my fabric choice. Here is the quilt all made up, quilted and even bound!
The only issue I had was I needed to trim the solid blocks on two sides down by 1/4" in order for them to sit on top of the previous arcs, like clamshells. Just a little tidbit to share with you as that is not in the book. I had some fun custom quilting it!
And I have to share this sweet little quilt model of mine! This is my Bella and she loves my new quilt and of course, Carl's book.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone out there that wants to try something a little different. He has so many beautiful quilts including pillows in this book. So many different variations of the quilts can be made just by switching out the arcs.
